Picture of a cloud with snow Emergency Lunches During Inclement Weather Events

FCPS recognizes that during school closures due to inclement weather some of our students lack access to meals.

FCPS will serve free, hot lunches starting on the third consecutive day of school closure due to inclement weather, if our buildings are accessible to FCPS staff.

Participants must be 18 years or younger; they do not have to be FCPS students.

All meals must be eaten on site due to USDA* reimbursement rules. FCPS will serve the lunches from 11 AM to 1 PM at the following sites:

  • Ballenger Creek Elementary
  • Hillcrest Elementary
  • Monocacy Middle
  • Walkersville Middle
  • Waverley Elementary

On those days, FCPS will not sell meals or a la carte items; there will be no cash transactions.

FCPS Food and Nutrition Services staff will handle food preparation, serving, kitchen cleanup and necessary accountability. School staff will be responsible for serving-line control, lunch-room monitoring and waste removal.
